Vaptsarov is leading producer of various press machines,  hydro turbines, valves, gates and other hydro power equipment. The company is split into two main divisions:

• VAPRESS - mechanical eccentric presses, hydraulic presses, sheet-bending  presses, presses for briquetting of bio-mass
  
• VAP Hydro - hydro power equipment: turbines, valves, gates, pipes, hydro power plants
  

The company was established in 1925 as a small metal-working workshop. From 1950 to 1990, Vaptsarov manufactured and shipped more than 10 000 forging and press machines of various types as well as turbines and other related equipment for most of Bulgaria's hydro power plants, for a total installed capacity of 1220 MW.

In 1997 Vaptsarov once again became a privately owned company, member of Metal Technology Group.
